Munich to host RB Leipzig friendly with financial ties
Friendly match with underlying financial connections
A friendly match between FC Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig is scheduled, which holds significance beyond a typical preseason fixture. This game is linked to a prior transfer deal involving Julian Nagelsmann‘s move from RB Leipzig to Bayern Munich in 2021. A portion of the proceeds from this match will contribute to settling an outstanding amount of approximately €3 million that Bayern Munich still owes to RB Leipzig as part of that transfer.
Additionally, another future friendly between the two clubs is anticipated, connected to Max Eberl‘s transfer from RB Leipzig to Bayern Munich in 2024. These matches serve to address financial obligations stemming from past player and staff movements between the two Bundesliga clubs.

Coaches’ reunion and tactical outlook

Demichelis expressed his anticipation for the game, viewing it as an opportunity for his team to progress.
He will also be reunited with Bayern Munich‘s current head coach, Vincent Kompany. The two played together at Manchester City for three years, and Demichelis noted Kompany‘s leadership qualities during their time as teammates. Demichelis emphasized the importance of focusing on RB Leipzig‘s strengths, aiming for strong organization out of possession, effective pressing, and counter-pressing, alongside a focus on positional play and ball control.
